It seems to have been along while since I wrote anything on our blog!! I am sure you are all aware that time passes by so quickly. One minute its Christmas next it's Easter and in a flash that has gone too!!
Well I can say we haven't let time stand still in the St Kilda, we have been very busy as always taking care of our guests and behind the scenes things have definately been moving.
We have been redecorating the Luxury Bays, revamping bathrooms, sprucing up hallways, laying new carpets the list goes on and on!! and we are not finished yet.
More exciting plans are on the horizon for more rooms to be decorated and we will be launching a Tea Room very very soon, so watch this space more details to follow.

Christmas has arrived!
Our Christmas decorations have been up since the 1st November for our ever popular Holly & Mistletoe breaks and as always they are going down a storm!
However today brought a bit more excitement with the arrival of our real Christmas tree!!
We always have a nice big tree to sit proudly outside the hotel and this year is no exception. It was hand picked last week by Mr & Mrs Jones and felled yesterday by Will the forester.
We received the phone call to make sure we had a few hands to help unload and were told it would be arriving at 10.30am, time for a quick bacon buttie and cup of tea.

The tree arrives and it is HUGE!! Thank goodness Peter had increased the diameter of the hole it would sit in earlier this year.
The men gather around the tree to work out the tactics of the operation ahead!
Will is giving out the instructions, we need ropes!!
It certainly is a whopper!
Ohh my back!! sorry guys not able to help but I will make you lunch.
The guests are watching!
A bit more!
Almost there, just get her secure at the base.
Release the ropes! she is in
Now all we need to do is light up the tree, but I think we will wait until tomorrow.

Celebrating 100 years
We would like to congratulate one of our guests Mr Phillip Bethell on his milestone birthday.
Mr Bethell celebrated his 100th birthday at home with family and friends and also a visit from the Mayor, he proudly displayed his many cards with his telegram from the Queen taking pride of place.
We understand he will be attending further celebrations this weekend with a big party, which I am sure he will enjoy!
Happy Birthday from all the staff at the St Kilda Hotel.

Group Travel Awards 2012
Once again we were lucky enought to be nominated by our Group Organisers and Tour Operators in the Group Travel "Individual Hotel for Groups" catergory 2012.
The announcement that we were once again a finalist rumbled through the hotel, "Could we be lucky enough to Win again?," "Have we done enough over the last 12 months to win?" all questions on everyone's mind.
For me I felt sick but with excitment, Mr & Mrs Jones announced we would be going to the ceremony and I was lucky enough to be able to go again and represent the St Kilda Hotel.
Mrs Jones, Julia, Jeanette and myself went to London on the 15th June to the Awards Ceremony in the Riverbank Plaza Hotel, a fabulous location for such a grand event.
We were all secretly hoping to win, but when you look at the list of nominees we were up against you begin to wonder if it is just a dream. That dream I am happy to say did become a reality when they announced
"The St Kilda Hotel the Winner" for the 4th year running.
Before we had time to take it all in we were up on stage to accept our trophy, with legs shaking like jelly and all eyes upon us, it was still exciting the fourth time as it was the first.
Back at our table it was time to let anyone and everyone we knew to be contacted by mobile phone or text, we were riding high on all the excitement and the conrgatulations kept coming, what a night!

The Olympic Torch passes the St Kilda Hotel
The Olympic Torch passes the St Kilda Hotel 29th May 2012, guests and staff wait patiently outside the hotel to see this once in a lifetime experience.
Beautiful weather brought the crowds out early to enjoy the sunshine, and the Llandudno Town Band played in the background whilst we waited for the procession to pass by.
A helicopter buzzed above us and then the first of the cars arrived with a police escort, the sponsor buses were next building up the atmosphere with their music and dancers and advertising boards telling us the torch was 6 minutes away.
All cameras were poised as the torch got nearer and nearer and then everyone cheered as it passed by on it's way to the next stop in Colwyn Bay and then on to Chester.

Glorious Llandudno
How gorgeous is this weather?
Llandudno is basking in sunshine with temperatures hitting the 20 degrees at the weekend and today a lovely 17 degrees, I really would like to be out there enjoying it, wouldn't you!!
The weather has certainly brought the guests flooding in and we have had to turn away many of you phoning up for last minute bookings, for which we are sorry!
You never know what the British weather holds in store for us over the coming months and I am not going to risk putting a curse on our summer, so I will say no more.
I can see Easter and the forthcoming Bank Holidays are going to be busy again but we do have some vacancies at the moment so you might just want to get in there quick!!
Come back and check our Last Minute deals page for any latest deals that might appeal to you, is that a rhyme??
